Charles Paul Birtle, age 90 of Tipp City, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013 in Hospice of Dayton. He was born in Medway, Ohio on October 27, 1922 the son of Charles Edward and Anna (Williams) Birtle. He was a veteran of WWII where he served as a member of Patton''s 29th Infantry. He retired in 1974 from Wright Patterson Air Force Base after 39 years. He loved to drink wine and work in his garden and he was well known for painting birdhouses, Christmas ornaments and Easter eggs.
He is survived by his 4 daughters Nancy (John) McCullum of Atlanta, Ga., Judy Pierce of Dayton, Georgia (Bill) Walker of Dayton, Betty (Gary) Hobbs of Oakton, Va., 12 grandchildren Debbie, John, David, Steve, Jason, Mark, Shawn, Kerry, Amanda, Mary, Karen, Kristin, 23 great grandchildren, and a brother Frank (Jean) Birtle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty Lois Birtle, daughter Patsy Lee Jones, son-in-law Ishmael Jones, and a sister Janice Dalton.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2013 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am in the BLESSING FUNERAL HOME, 11900 N. Dixie Dr. Tipp City. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Tipp City. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Charles'' memory to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave, Dayton, Ohio 45420, or to your local Humane Society.
