Eldon E. Phipps, age 83 of Dayton, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2016 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born in St. Charles, Virginia on March 14, 1932 the son of Milford & Tishie (Marcee) Phipps. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served in the Korean War. He was a member of the Coalminer''s Union and a member of the Pathway Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of over 40 years Dora Lee Hunt, son Danny (Betty) Ellington, 2 grandsons Greg (Tonya) and Eric Ellington, 2 great grandchildren Raven and Ryan, a brother James and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers Vernon and Junior and 3 sisters Bonnie, Della, and Norma.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, February 26, 2016 from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm at the BLESSING-ZERKLE FUNERAL HOME, 11900 N. Dixie Dr. Tipp City. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 12:00 pm in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Tipp City. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Eldon''s memory to the Humane Society of Greater Dayton, 1661 Nicholas Rd. Dayton, Ohio 45417.
