Obituary

Eugene Gudger, age 91 of Dayton, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Harmony Healthcare, Xenia. He was born in Cary, Kentucky on July 16, 1933, the son of Fred & Maggie (Howard) Gudger. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served in the Korean War. He worked for Moorman Pontiac for many years in Auto Body repair. He had a great sense of humor and loved to play the guitar and sing.

He is survived by his son Michael Gudger; step-children Clarence "Cecil" Long, Diana (Frank) Markunes, Robert (Valerie) Long and Calvin Long; grandchildren Tim Long, Bobby Long, Jessica Long, Jason Hadley and Tracee Hardin; great grandchildren Jayla Brown, Naomi Nail and Conner Hardin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 58 years Pearl Gudger in 2021; step-children Donald Long and Cathy Hadley; grandson James Hadley; brothers Lawrence, Elder, Jim, Kelly and Walter Gudger; and sisters Dorothy Morris and Kathryn Prodin.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, October 7, 2024, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at the ZERKLE FUNERAL HOME, 11900 N. Dixie Dr., Tipp City. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Tipp City.
