Eugene M. Hilvers, age 85 of Huber Heights formerly of Fostoria, Ohio, passed away Thursday, April 26, 2012. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 23, 1926 the son of Henry & Helen (Dorsey) Hilvers. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and Navy, he served during WWII and Korean Wars and retired in 1966 from the U.S. Navy. He worked as a aircraft mechanic for Stevens Aviation. He enjoyed golfing, flying, collecting model trains, Fairborn YMCA activities and the VR8 & 7 reunions.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Joan M. (Murray) Hilvers, children Cheryle (Ed) Lankford, Shawn (Laurie) Hilvers, Lori (Greg) Metivier, and Kelly Krazer, 9 grandchildren Jessica (Matty), Armando, Sean, Jamie, Veronica (Mark), Chris, Joel, Brianna, and Heather (Justin), 8 great grandchildren Maiya, Gianna, Jaeden, Kaleb, Zoe, Zak, Avian, and Julia, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers Jack and Jim.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, May 4, 2012 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm in the BLESSING FUNERAL HOME, 11900 N. Dixie Dr. Tipp City. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 4, 2012 at 12:00 pm, with Pastor John Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Tipp City.
