Obituary

Francis "Delight" McCauley, age 91 of Dayton, passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at Springhills Singing Woods in Dayton. She was born in Springfield, Ohio on February 2, 1921 the daughter of Lawrence and Irene (Ramsey) Coleman. She was a graduate of New Carlisle High School and received her teaching degree from the University of Cincinnati and taught at Patterson Co-Op until her retirement in 1985. She opened a Beauty Salon in Dayton in the 50''s and went to New York to study and became the first African American female cosmetologist in Ohio to chemically straighten hair. She was a member of the Ohio Buckeye Club, Idlewilders Club, and several other organizations over the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 60 years Gilbert Thomas McCauley in 2002, and her sister Bernice Coleman.
She is survived by her only son and daughter-in-law Gilbert and LaKeta McCauley of West Bloomfield, Michigan, 3 grandchildren Brooke, Scott, and Nicholas, 2 great grandchildren Skyler and Scott Jr., special daughter Linda Mallory, nephews Elwood "Woody" Berry and Roger (Sharon) Neal, cousins Isabelle Green and Madaline Harshaw, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at 12:00 in the BLESSING FUNERAL HOME, 11900 N. Dixie Dr. Tipp City with Pastor John Freeman officiating. A visitation will be held on Tuesday 1 hour before the service from 11:00 -12:00. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Tipp City.
