Obituary

Hal Gary Griffin, age 90 of Tipp City, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Randall Residence, Tipp City. He was born in Wauseon, Ohio on September 30, 1934, the son of Peter & Sadie (Stratton) Griffin. He lived most of his life in Northwest Ohio. He married Ruth Snyder on September 15, 1956, and she preceded him in death on July 1, 2015. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany from 1957-1959. He was an auto mechanic for more than 50 years. He retired from a Chrysler dealership in 2006. He was a foster parent and Big Brother in Henry County for many years. Hal was a member of the Wauseon and Napoleon Lion's Clubs. He was also on the Wauseon Homecoming Committee. Hal was an active member of First Christian Church and an elder emeritus.

He is survived by his children Debbie (David) Weissman, Cindy Lyons and Doug (Patricia) Griffin; grandchildren Dan Weissman and Kathryn (Marc Lain) Weissman; and a brother Jerry Griffin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Ruth; stepfather William Behnke; brother Roger Griffin, stepbrother Bernie Behnke and stepsister Berneta Lauber.

A Celebration of Hal's life will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the First Christian Church, 129 E. Elm St., Wauseon, Ohio. Services have been entrusted to the Zerkle Funeral Home, Tipp City. Condolences may be sent to the family through this online guestbook.
