Herbert Clifford Landis, age 83 of Vandalia passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2012. He was born in Brookville, Ohio on October 25, 1928 the son of Herbert G. & Hazel (Fryman) Landis. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was an Air Traffic Controller, Flight Instructor, charter pilot, and a corporate pilot for Crown Equipment Corporation. He was a member of the "QBs" Quiet Birdman and the Vandalia United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife Julia "Judy" E. Landis, children Anthony S. "Tony" (Kelley) Landis and Sheri D. (Richard) May, grandchildren Lauren May, Jared May, Stephen Landis, and Nicholas Landis, brother Lowell Landis, 3 sisters Winiford Rhoades, Myrna Freeders and Patricia Lawson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Earl Landis and Paul Landis, and sisters Edna Nance and Miriam Erbaugh.
A gathering of friends and family will be held on Friday, June 8, 2012 from 6-8 pm in the BLESSING FUNERAL HOME, 11900 N. Dixie Dr. Tipp City. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 11:00 am in the funeral home with Pastor Tom Weeks officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Tipp City. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Vandalia United Methodist Church, 200 S. Dixie Dr. Vandalia, Ohio 45377. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.blessingfh.com.
