James Herman Howard, 93 pf Tipp City went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 1st, 2021. He was born in Kentucky, the son of the late Alma (Colley) and Wilbert M. Howard.

He is survived by the love of his life; his wife of 68 years: Nancy Eloise (Bartee) Howard; Sons: Gary (Deborah) Howard, David (Terri) Howard of Tipp City and Greg (Teri Emerick) Howard of Troy; Grandchildren: Jennifer Howard, Justin (Brittany) Howard, Nathan Howard, Amanda (Jesse) Clark, Jasmine Thacker, Jantzen (Erika) Emerick, Paige (Vern) Ahrens ans Andie Emerick; Great-Grandchildren: Lucas Howard, Audrey Stacy, Madeline, Averie, Jantzen Jr. and Leila Emerick and William Ahrens; Brothers: Virgil Howard and Sisters: Mary Bartee, Ruth Maggard, Betty Rader and Verla Messer.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Wilbert and Alma Howard, brothers: Robert Colley, Venon Howard and Wilbert Howard Jr., sisters: Patricia Humble, Arvilla Rugglers, Ruby Roof and Carol Thurman.

James " Herman" Howard served proudly in the U.S. Army from 1948-1955. He achieved the rank of Sergeant First Class. He served overseas in Germany as part of the Occupational Force. He was honorably discharged from active service and remained in the Reserved for two years. He was a member of Assembly of God in Tipp City and served on the Board. He retired from Royal Crest Dairy, Dayton, Ohio and was a former Tipp City School employee and a Real Estate Agent at Mutual Reality. He loved God, his family and spending winters in Florida enjoying the sunshine. He will be missed and was loved so very much by his wife, children and entire family. A special thanks to Greg and Teri for caring for him during his brief illness due to Covid.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 8, 2021 at 1:00 pm at the Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, 11890 N. Dixie Dr., Tipp City. Services have been entrusted to the Zerkle Funeral Home, Tipp City. Condolences may be sent to the family through this online guestbook.
