James Edward Margerum, age 82 of Dayton, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2105 in Hospice of Dayton. He was born on November 23, 1932 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania the son of Charles and Gertrude (Schott) Margerum. He retired from the U.S. Air Force, member of the Englewood American Legion and enjoyed volunteering at the U.S.O. at the Dayton International Airport for many years. He was a member of the Christian Life Center in Vandalia.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years Irene J. Margerum, daughters Sherry (Tom) Winters and Eva (Mark) DeCamp, grandchildren Jason (Holli) Winters, Rachel (Jerry) Hopewell, Emily Sherer, and Andrew (Vanna) Sherer, 8 great grandchildren, and a sister Irene Lee
He was preceded in death by his parents and 5 brothers and sisters.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, April 20, 2015 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm in the BLESSING-ZERKLE FUNERAL HOME, 11900 N. Dixie Dr. Tipp City. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 1:00 pm with Joe Mays officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Tipp City.
