Jody Todd Carter, age 68, of Vandalia, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Kettering Hospital, Dayton. He was born in Massillon, Ohio on January 17, 1958, the son of Emmett Clayton & Barbara (McArtor) Carter. He loved gunsmithing and restoring old guns and was a Military History buff. He worked several places including Angstrom Fiber Englewood.

He is survived by his mother Barbara Carter Leonard; his wife of 32 years Katharine Garri (Speer) Carter; daughter Kacy Elizabeth Carter; stepdaughter Megan Hicks Maham; grandchildren Lincoln and Scarlet; brother Jeff (Vicki) Carter; sister Jill (Tracey) Beverly; nieces and nephews Kyle (Kristi), Camden, Jason (Jill), Carson (Erin), and Michaela.

He was preceded in death by his father Emmett Carter and his step father Charles Leonard.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm at the ZERKLE FUNERAL HOME, 11900 N. Dixie Dr., Tipp City. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday at 6:00 pm at the funeral home with John Seagraves officiating. Condolences may be sent to the family through this online guestbook.
