John C. Leonard, age 99 of Dayton passed away Friday, November 27, 2009 in Hospitality Homes in Xenia, Oh. He was born on February 16, 1910 in Wilmington, Ohio the son of Arthur & Jane (Smith) Leonard. John was a bread salesman for White''s Baking Company for many years, and later worked for Johnny Beason selling Sunbeam Bread door-to-door. He retired from Morgan Linen Company at the age of 70.
He is survived by his daughter Joy (Don Johnson) Leonard Bird of Bella Vista, Ar., son John Leonard Jr. of Clearwater, Fl., four grandchildren Dan (Karen) Miller of Gresham, Or., Debbie (Charlie) Hoskins of Peculiar, Mo., Diane Miller of Sherwood, Or., David Miller of Portland, Or., five great grandchildren Jeff Miller of Portland, Or., Jennie Miller of Portland, Or., James Stubenrauch of Kansas City, Mo., Hayley Marr of Peculiar, Mo., Tyler Kent of Portland, Or., sister-in-law Jeannie Leonard of Largo, Fl., niece Wendy (Robert Berlanti) of St. Petersburg, Fl., nephews Larry (Penny) Richard of Greenfield, Oh., Terry (Jill) Richard of Sabina, Oh., guardian and long time friend Gregg (Mindy) McNabb.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife of 31 years Eloise Leonard Ellis on October 4, 1971, second wife of 33 years Maxine Leonard on March 26, 2004, a brother Bob Leonard, a sister Sarah Richard, and a brother-in-law Earl Richard.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at 7:00 pm in the BLESSING FUNERAL HOME, 11900 N. Dixie Dr. Tipp City with Rev. Junior Greenlee officiating.
