John Robert Whitehair, age 87 of Tipp City passed away Monday, October 26, 2009 in Hospice of Dayton, He was born on October 13, 1922 in Fairmont, West Virginia the son of Chesley R. & Nola B. Whitehair. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in World War II in the 11th Construction Battalion Seabees. He was a charter member of Tipp City VFW Post #4615 where he was a Past Vice Commander, he retired in 1985 from B.F. Goodrich and enjoyed bowling, golfing and woodworking. He is survived by his brother Chesley "Bud", 2 sisters "Sis" and Nancy, 4 sons John Roland (Deb) Whitehair of Batesville, Ind., James Robert Whitehair of Tipp City, William Alan (Fiancee Paula Heeter) Whitehair of Tipp City, and Jeffery Lynn Whitehair of Troy, 2 daughters Karen Jo DeHart of Troy, and Kathy Lee (Mike) Gray of Tipp City, grandchildren Julia Whitehair, Jessica Whitehair, Tina DeHart-Williams, Tami DeHart-Kern, Mindy (Gray) Webster, Aaron Gray, Alia Gray, William R. Whitehair, and Kimberly Jo Whitehair, and great grandchildren Cameron, Caleb, Bailey, Keiran, Rhys, Hunter, Jake, Versaya, and Hannah.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 64 years Josephine B. (Stewart) on September 7, 2008, sister Mildred, and 2 great grandchildren.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2009 from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm in the BLESSING FUNERAL HOME, 11900 N. Dixie Dr. Tipp City.
