Katherine M. Brooks, age 85 of Fairborn passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2010 in Crestview Manor, Beavercreek. She was born in Anniston, Alabama on May 7, 1924 the daughter of Elam & Dixie (Bowens) Newell. She was a member of the Pentecostal Deliverence House of Prayer of Dayton and loved to cook, garden, can and quilt.
She is survived by her children Paul C. (Gayle) Brooks of West Carrollton, John W. (Connie) Brooks of Jacksonville, Fla., Shirley A. (William) Reeder of Newport Richie, Fla., and Aaron J. (Patty) Brooks of Fairborn, 8 grandchildren Tina M. Taylor, Paula J. Brooks, Michelle M. Mauger, Jason W. Brooks, Kenny Goss, Jr., Kimberly Merrill, Olivia Anton, and Molly Brooks, 14 great grandchildren, sister Mary Ruth Campbell, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of over 50 years James Brooks in 1991, son James Robert Brooks, granddaughter Jenny H. Brooks, 4 brothers Grover, Henry, James Albert, and Frank Newell, and a sister Eppie Newell.
Family and friends will gather to honor Katherine Brooks'' life on Thursday, May 6, 2010 from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm at the BLESSING FUNERAL HOME, 11900 N. Dixie Dr. Tipp City, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Thursday, May 6th at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Tipp City. The family has requested In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Katherine''s memory to the Activities Fund at Crestview Manor Nursing Home, 4381 Tonawanda Trail, Beavercreek, Ohio 45430.
