Obituary

Larry Ned Clark of Enon passed away on November 15, 2025, at the age of 78 after a several year battle against dementia. The son of the late George Clark and Evelyn (Stout) Clark, he was born in Dayton, Ohio, on March 21, 1947. He graduated from Fairview High School, class of 1965, then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp serving in Vietnam during the TET offensive in1968. He met his wife Mary Kathryn "Kathy" Klaes and they were married on September 5, 1970.   Ned followed in the career of his father and grandfather as a union Ironworker as a member of Local 290 where he worked for 40 years, retiring as the President and union organizer. Ned helped build most of the Dayton and the Miami Valley skyline. Ned attended Sinclair Community College and received an Associate Degree in Aviation Administration in 1979. Having always been an opinionated individual, Ned became involved in the community often speaking at local government meetings. Ned had a lifelong passion for open-wheel racing. He maintained go-karts, a Formula Ford and a Formula Atlantic racecar where he often raced at Indianapolis Raceway Park and Mid-Ohio. "Ned the Fabricator" as we affectionately called him, always had several ongoing projects in his garage-mahal with all the tools for the racecars, go-karts and computers. Prior to his medical issues he was restoring Gordon Johncock's / Don Wittington's 1985 Indy 500 qualifier. Ned's TV was usually tuned to watching Indy cars and Formula 1 races. Ned enjoyed sim racing and flight simulators taking him virtually across the globe. As the Internet became widely available, Ned was able to contact some of his fellow Marines he served with in Vietnam. Ned co-wrote The Road to the Graveyard  A Bloody Footnote to the Battle for Hue, an ambush that occurred on 2-7-68, which was published in the November 2009 issue of the Marine Corp Gazette.  A copy of The Road to the Graveyard,  as well as other stories, documents, and commentary, can be found on the Wayback Machine website https://web.archive.org/web/20190612221052/http:/www.2-7-68.com/Home.html

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kathy, son Andrew, daughter Jennifer, grandchildren Emily Clark and Ryan Clark, Haley Clark, bonus grandson Jacob Collier, nieces Suzanne Kiesler and Tracy Kiesler Tapia, sisters Darline Clark McGehe, Kim Clark Baird, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Clark, Evelyn Clark and sister Judy Clark Kiesler. The Clark family wishes to thank the caring staffs at The Indigo Memory Facility and Heartland Hospice.
