Louretta I. Gaston, age 79 of Tipp City, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Monday, April 21, 2025. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on March 19, 1946, the daughter of Carl & Adell (Hasemeier) Durban. She was the treasurer of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Mack Volunteer Fire Department in Cincinnati. While living in Michigan for 4 years, she was very active in her church as a Sunday School teacher, married couples group organizer and children's choir helper. Also, in Michigan she was a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority, awarded the prestigious Pallas Athene Award for the Michigan Chapter, as well as starting the first Mt. Clermont County Health Department Well Child Volunteer Clinic. She also served two years on Compaq Council in Houston, Texas, one of 23 selected by Compaq in the United Sates. She was part owner, with her husband Terry, of DISK & DAT-A Inc. Computer Center for 25 years. She served on the board for Miami County Job Partners Training program, member of the Tipp City United Methodist Church where she volunteered as the receptionist, a member of the Tipp City Players, long time volunteer at the Clothesline where she served on the board, also served as a volunteer for the Tipp City Library, Tipp Monroe Community Services, Troy Altrusa and was a nine year board member of the Job Training Association for Miami County.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Terry Gaston; daughters Shana Borger and Angela Gaston and 7 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her youngest daughter Jeanette C. Gaston. There comes a time in life when you walk away from all the drama and the people who create it. Surround yourself with people who make you laugh, forget the bad, and focus on the good. Love the people who treat you right. Pray for the ones who don't. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is part of life, getting back up is living. Peace to all God's children.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, April 28, 2025, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at the Tipp City Global Methodist Church, 8 W. Main St., Tipp City. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 1:00 pm at the church with Pastor Bonita Ritchie officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in memory of Louretta to the Jeanette C. Gaston Memorial Music Scholarship in care of the Tipp City Area Community Foundation, P.O. Box 626, Tipp City, Ohio 45371. Services have been entrusted to the Zerkle Funeral Home, Tipp City. Condolences may be sent to the family through this online guestbook.
