Luther James Owens, age 81 of Springfield, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2026, in his residence. He was born in Honaker, Virginia on April 26, 1944, the son of Andy & Elsie (Hutcheson) Owens.

He is survived by his son Johnnie (Sandy) Owens; grandson Bradley Owens; great grandsons Hunter and Sawyer Owens; His lifetime companion Barbara Wallace and her son Steven Wallace and his fiancé Jennifer, grandchildren Jacob Campagna, Tony Campagna, Annabella Leuck and Kayleigh Leuck; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Charlotte Owens; brothers Paris, Robert, Gene, Noah Owens; sisters Dephi Owens, Ethel Owens, Nellie Roper and Lucille Kriebaum; adopted children Gary Wallace and Trudy Whiting.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, from 10:00 – 11:00 am at the ZERKLE FUNERAL HOME, 11900 N. Dixie Dr., Tipp City. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor Roger Carroll McDonald officiating. Condolences may be sent to the family through this online guestbook.
