Mary Elizabeth Spitler, age 79 of New Carlisle, passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2021 in her home. She was born in Kenton, Ohio on February 11, 1942 the daughter of Erwin John & Idella Nadine (Dunson) Hastings. She was a member of the Good Shephard United Methodist Church, New Carlisle, a Girl Scout leader, competition parachutist, auto mechanic and seamstress extraordinaire.

She is survived by her daughter Terri Ana Monroe; son Carl William Schmidt III, step son Lance Ralph Spitler; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; brother John Phillips (Linda) Hastings; niece Michelle Baldeuf and nephew John Phillip Hastings II.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack Ralph Spitler, daughter Cheri Ann Monroe; and her step son Jason Lee Spitler.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, November 19, 2021 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at the ZERKLE FUNERAL HOME, 11900 N. Dixie Dr., Tipp City. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 1:00 pm with Pastor Harvey Hinshaw officiating.
