Nancy Jo Spencer, 82, of Vandalia passed away Sunday, September 22, 2024, at Miami Valley Hospital. She was born in Middletown, Ohio on August 23, 1942, the daughter of Fon & Mildred (Hill) Carpenter. Nancy was an extremely competitive woman that loved bowling and playing sports with her children and grandchildren. She had no problem trash talking to them, and almost backing it up, even with a broken finger every now and then. Nancy enjoyed caring for and nurturing all the children she came in contact with. Some of her happiest times were coaching Fonda's softball team, the Big Green Machine. Her loving husband, Ernie, cherished everything about Nancy from the moment they met on March 27, 1959, as he rode up to her on a horse in Mitonville, Ohio. Their blessed marriage was 62 years strong.  She loved her entire family whole heartedly without exception and leaves an abundance of family and friends returning that same love.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband Ernest Kelly Spencer Sr.; two children Fonda Lynn (Bradley) Blacker and Ernest Kelly "Tank" Spencer; grandchildren Cami Nicole (David) Savareid, Nolan Richard (Aubrey) Jablonski, Chance Patrick (Joanna) Ross, Ernest Kelly "Bubby" Spencer III, Brooke Nicole Spencer, Nikki Marie Nies, Kelly Arthur Spencer and Chase Hunter Spencer; 15 great grandchildren; brothers Donald "Sock" (Debbie) Carpenter, Denny (Betty Jean) Carpenter and Rob (Patty) Carpenter; sister Vicki Lynn Cornett; sister-in-law Jo Spencer; brother and sister-in-law Doug and Rita Guinn; nieces and nephews Zack, Burt, Colby, Jami (Michael), Aydan and Gage.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Bill, Kenny, Fon Jr., Charlie, David and Danny "Chank" Carpenter; sisters Martha McMillan,  Betty Griffen and Donna Stacy and brother-in-law Edward Dale Spencer.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at the ZERKLE FUNERAL HOME, 11900 N Dixie Dr., Tipp City. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with John Seagraves officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Tipp City.
