Robert James McClannan Sr., age 87 of Vandalia, passed away Friday, July 30, 2010 in Springmeade Health Center, Tipp City after a battle with Alzheimer''s. He was born in Piqua, Ohio on October 26, 1922 the son of James Eritt & Ida Marie (Spade) McClannan. He was a veteran on the U.S. Army serving in WWII and saw combat in Germany. He was a devoted and loving father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Deloras (Flora) McClannan, daughter and son-in-law Vicki and Lance West of Vandalia, son Robert James McClannan Jr. of Florida, granddaughter Mariah West, stepgrandson Tony West and family, brothers Eugene (Margaret) McClannan of Piqua, Morris (Carolyn) McClannan of Piqua, Donald (Carol) McClannan of Fresno, Ca., Kenneth McClannan of Mary Esther, Florida, nephews Donald, David, Douglas, nieces Carol, Suzanne, Faith, Debra, and Kelly, and numerous great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A special heartfelt Thank You to all the nurses and aides at Springmeade who so happily and lovingly cared for Robert and made him part of their family.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 from 12:00 - 1:00 pm in the BLESSING FUNERAL HOME, 11900 N. Dixie Dr. Tipp City, Ohio 45371. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 pm in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Tipp City.
