Shirley Fay Smith, age 79 of Dayton, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Wednesday, October 24, 2018. She was born in West Liberty, Kentucky on September 25, 1939 the daughter of James Ernest & Lou Emma (Fugett) Benton. She loved her cats and enjoyed crocheting. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family and will be missed by all who loved her.

She is survived by her children Edsel Smith Jr., Tonya (David Morris) Hester, Kevin (Elizabeth) Smith, Derrick Todd (Sarah) Smith; stepchildren John (Rosetta) Abney and Joyce (Robert) Rolfe; grandchildren Mike (Shana) Rolfe, Callysta Hester, Annalise Morris, Holden and Benton Smith; and great grandchildren Austin, Madison, Isabella and Rosaleigh Rolfe.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Edsel Smith Sr. and her step mother Claire Tolson Benton.

Private services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Services have been entrusted to the Blessing-Zerkle Funeral Home, Tipp City.
