Obituary

Terebinski, Stanley A. (Stan), of Troy, age 92 yrs and 363 days, passed away peacefully Monday morning, April 27, 2026. He was born and raised in Flint, Michigan, living his adult life in Vandalia and Troy, Ohio. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the Navy as a paymaster. He belonged to numerous service organizations serving in different capacities such as president, treasurer and other positions. Memberships included Lifetime Member of VFW Post 9582 Vandalia, Am Vets Post 88 Troy, Troy Fish and Game, Rotary International (where he was a Paul Harris Fellow), Sister Cities of Vandalia, Chamber of Commerce & Optimist clubs of Dayton and Vandalia, Masonic Temple, former Youngest President (at the time) of the Ohio Assoc. of Cemeteries, Longtime member of the Miami Valley Country Club, and St. Christopher Catholic Church. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, champion trapshooter, but missed playing golf the most. He enjoyed spending time with his family during holidays, family gatherings and family vacations. Along with his wife Opal and four children Stan was an entrepreneur and longtime business owner of Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, West Memory Gardens, and Terebinski Funeral Home (now Zerkle Funeral Home).

He was preceded in death by his parents Vincent & Gertrude (Huffman) Terebinski; 2 brothers Leonard and Raymond Terebinski; 3 sisters Gerry Huffman, Phyllis Smith and Veronica Ostrander; his wife of 60 years Opal Terebinski; daughter Lana and son-in-law Michael Bach; and daughter-in-law Arlene Terebinski.

Stan is survived by his children, Theresa, Michael, and James “Jamie” (Laura) Terebinski. Grandchildren, Cory (Katie) Bach, Molly (Chris) Harshbarger, Amanda (Erik) Fine, Joshua (Sarah) Terebinski, Michelle Terebinski, Zachary (Melissa) Francis, and Vincent (Timarie) Francis. Great Grandchildren, Austin, Stanley, and August Francis, Allison and Spencer Bach, Ethan and Alek Fine, Reaghan and Zane Lemp, Ainsley Harshbarger, Anna and Jack Terebinski; and host of nieces and nephews, relatives, and friends.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, May 4, 2025, from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at the ZERKLE FUNERAL HOME, 11900 N. Dixie Dr., Tipp City. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, May 5,2026, at 11:00 am at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 435 E. National Rd. Vandalia, Ohio with Fr. Smith officiating. The family will also friends at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 – 11:00 am.
