Sylvia Jean Bernard, age 80 of Vandalia, passed away Sunday, September 30, 2018 at Woodland of Middletown. She was born in Ramsay, Michigan on January 24, 1938 the daughter of William & Erma (Huhtula) Leppala. She was a member of the Vandalia Church of the Nazarene.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Richard Bernard, children Rick (Tina) Bernard and Lori Pease; 5 grandchildren April Sakach, Stephanie and Danny Harlan, Zach and Rusty Bernard; great grandchildren Dalton Harlan and Olivia Sakach; brothers Ronnie Leppala and Robert Leppala; and a sister Connie Kostelnik.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, October 5, 2018 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at the BLESSING-ZERKLE FUNERAL HOME, 11900 N. Dixie Dr., Tipp City. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Tipp City. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.blessingfh.com .
