IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Virginia Ann
Fay
January 15, 1936 – December 27, 2022
Virginia A. Fay, age 86, joined her Lord on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, after an extended illness. Virginia was born on January 15, 1936 to the late Ralph William and Mildred Ann (Helsley) Lukens. She graduated from Christiansburg-Jackson School and Springfield Mercy Hospital's Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program. She worked at Dettmer Hospital, Troy, Ohio before she quit to raise their family. Later Virginia went to work for Graham Local Schools in order for her work schedule to match their children's schedule. She retired from Graham Local School in 1995 after 28 years of a fulfilling career as a Teacher's Aide. Because of Virginia's love for her students, music and sports, she enjoyed reading about former Graham students she worked with over the years, watching the Graham Marching Band, and attending grandchildren's activities and sporting events. In addition, she enjoyed reading books, and working in the outdoors. Virginia's entire family gave her much fulfillment in life.
After retirement, Virginia, spent many hours working with her husband, Charles, on various projects in and around their home and rental properties, in her flower gardens, sitting on her swing, waving to friends. Between the two of them, there was nothing they could not accomplish. After a medical set-back, Virginia could be seen walking her therapy dog (Lil' Bit) around town in a baby stroller. She embraced town living because of her many friendships.
Virginia is survived by her husband of 69 years, Charles (Chuck) Fay of Christiansburg, and children David (Linda) Fay of Christiansburg, Sue (Ron) Manis of Troy, and Mike (Susan) Fay of Troy. Also, Virginia is survived by two nephews and a niece: Larry Garringer, Sharon Hagler, and Dennis (Elise) Garringer of Washington Court House. Virginia had 8 grandchildren Brandon (Lindsey) Fay, Jacob (Sheila) Fay, Tyler (Anna) Fay, Ryan (Kyra) Fay, Allison Fay, Erika (Jeff) Moore, Andrea (Lance) Miller, and Luke Manis, 24 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, sister Betty Huffman, sister Margaret (Sis) and husband Neil (Shorty) Garringer, Maggy Lukens (infant sister), nephew's wife (Weltha "Mick" Garringer), nephew David (Bo) and wife Mary Garringer, and their son Todd Garringer, and Virginia's beloved dog Lil' Bit (who was her companion and protector). After Lil'Bit passed on, he was succeeded by her enduring, steadfast companion Buddy who refused to leave her side.
Over the years, Virginia developed an enduring bond with special friends: Charles (Charlie) and Susie Lyons, David and Norma Loudenback, Frank and Layanna Wayman, and John and Pat Looney. Later in life, God sent her ten guardian angels, Mabel Torregrosa, Maribel Manos, Angi Lansing-Andersen, Tami Nathan, Kathy Estrada, Betty Straker, Fred Limbert, Sandy Lovejoy, Rita Kight, and Catherine Robinson, who became dear friends.
Virginia was kind and attentive to her family, friends, and co-workers while overcoming various adversities in life. She set an excellent example for all that nothing is impossible if you set your heart and mind to achieve and not allow outside influences to distract one from achieving their goals. Her resolve will give each of us courage. Virginia will be sorely missed by family and friends. Her death will create a huge void in the life of her family
