William R. Bocock, age 79 of Dayton, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2011 at his residence after a long illness. He was born in Dayton, Ohio on November 13, 1931 the son of Dillard & Annabell Bocock Wombold. He retired from the City of Dayton after 35 years of service. He was a former President of DPSU Local 101 also served as Regional Vice President of AFSCME, Ohio Council 8, Dayton Region. He served as Vice President of the Dayton AFLCIO. He is a Kentucky Colonel and received numerous proclamations and rewards from the City of Dayton Mayor''s Office, Montgomery County Commisoner''s Office, the Ohio House of Representatives, The Ohio Senate, and various organizations too numerous to mention.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years Billie Jo (Lake) Bocock, William Jr. (Cindy), Cindy Betzner (Rick), Vernon "Bud" (Theresa), and Robin, 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, sisters Doris of Dayton, and Francis of Huntsville, Tenn., his loving nephew and trusted caregiver Kurt Vultee, special friend Dick Polakovics and Tom Ritchie, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Dino, brothers Marcelles, George, Harvey, Frank Sr., Vernon Sr., and Raymond, sisters Hazel, Wanda "Rosebud", Catherine, Anna Mary and Rowena.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2011 from 5-7 pm in the BLESSING FUNERAL HOME, 11900 N. Dixie Dr. Tipp City. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 19, 2011 at 10:30 am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Tipp City.
