William Lawrence Camden, age 78 of Vandalia passed away Thursday, November 13, 2014 in his residence. He was born in Xenia, Ohio on October 5, 1936 the son of Harold Camden & Cleo Violet (Butts) Ganter. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from the U.S. Navy where he served in Korea and Vietnam Wars. He is a member of VFW Post #9582 and St. Christopher Catholic Church, Vandalia. He worked at Airborne Express, Pinkerton Security and Dayton Air Freight.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Frances "Jeri" Camden, 3 daughters and sons-in-law Michele and Phil Moore, Angela and Brian Ludwig, and Danielle and Todd Camden-Albright, 9 grandchildren Benjamin Penny, Alyssa & Stuart McCullom, Kylee & Kevin Jones, Kourtni Meyers, Sadie Moore, Ashley Albright, Keegan Ludwig, Jacob Albright and Kennedy Ludwig, 4 great grandchildren Chase, Zevin, Zaylynn and William, several brothers and sisters and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by many family friends whom he helped raise and they simply called him "Dad"
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Charlotte Terrell.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, November 17, 2014 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm in the Blessing Funeral Home, 11900 N. Dixie Dr. Tipp City. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2104 at 12:00 pm in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Tipp City.
