William Edward Owens, age 79 of Vandalia passed away, Thursday, July 15, 2010 in Springcreek Nursing Home, Huber Heights. He was born in Dayton, Ohio on May 7, 1931 the son of William Everett & Maude (Griffin) Owens. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. He retired from the Kern Scale Company as a Scale Mechanic.
He is survived by his sons Michael E. Owens and wife Sally of Vandalia, William A. Owens of Clayton, daughter Barbara A. Stryker of Vandalia, brother Donald Owens and wife Annette of Eaton, sister Jean Harper and husband Dale of Beavercreek, 7 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife of 45 years Joanne Owens.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, July 19, 2010 from 12:00 - 1:00 pm in the BLESSING FUNERAL HOME, 11900 N. Dixie Dr. Tipp City. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Tipp City. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in William''s memory to the Diabetes Association of Dayton, 2555 South Dixie Dr., Suite 112 Dayton, Ohio 45409.
